The dorsal and anal fins of the white grunt are completely covered with scales. The caudal fin is forked and the pectoral fin long and sickle-shaped. The scales above the side line are larger than those below the side line. The white grunt is silvery-white to creamy, the head is bronze to yellow dorsally while the ventral surface of the head and belly is white. There is a series of dark blue stripes on the head, bordered with yellow-brown and rising into the body. The margin of each scale is bronze and the back edge is often grey. The rows of ladders above the side line are larger than those below the side line. The spiny dorsal fin is chalky to yellowish-white, the soft dorsal fin, the soft anal fin and the caudal fin are brownish grey. Pelvic fins are chalky, while pectoral fins range from light yellow to chalky. A black spot is located on the precapping and the inside of the mouth is red. The colour of this fish is variable, the fish appearing in a shade corresponding to the immediate environment.

The Blacknose shark belongs to the Carcharhinidae family. It has an average size of 1.4m for 10 kg. It has a maximum lifespan of 19 years. It mate in late May to June. It can be fished all year round. The Black Nose Shark has a slender body with a long rounded snout and large eyes. The inhalant and exhaling openings of the nostrils are separated by a skin flap. There are respectively 12 to 13 and 11 to 12 rows of teeth on each side of the upper and lower jaws, with one or two teeth at the symphysis level. The teeth are triangular and oblique, with serrated edges. The upper teeth are thicker than the lower teeth. The five pairs of gill slits are short, measuring less than one-third of the length of the base of the first dorsal fin. The first dorsal fin is small and somewhat sickle-shaped, with a pointed apex and a short, free posterior border; its origin is at the free rear edges of the pectoral fins. The second dorsal fin is relatively large, but always less than half the height of the first. There is no ridge between the two dorsal fins. The pectoral fins are short and tapered. The body is covered with overlapping dermal denticles that have five to seven longitudinal veins (three in very young individuals) ending in three to five teeth. The coloring is a yellowish grey to greenish on the top and white to yellow below. A characteristic dark spot at the tip of the snout is more or less visible, especially in young sharks.

The caudal fin is slightly lunar and the first three dorsal spines are elongated and thickened, dragging behind the fin. The tips of the dorsal and anal fins are pointed. It uses its elongated pig-shaped snout and large protruding mouth to root around the prey's lower substrate. The color of the hogfish is variable and depends on age, sex and habitat. It generally ranges from pearl white to mottled red with a black spot at the back base of the soft ridge. Men tend to be more intense in color than women. Young individuals and females are mainly pale grey, brown or reddish brown, with a lighter underside. The iris is a bright red color.

The Southern kingfish has an elongated body and a lower or downwardly directed mouth, with the snout extending beyond the mouth. They have only one rigid barbell under their chin. Kingfish are demersal fish, which means they live near the bottom. The southern kingfish is silver-grey, paler below and may have a coppery sheen. They often have seven or eight dark bars on the sides of the body. The dorsal fin is divided into two sections. Male and female fish have a similar appearance.
